Beached Sailboat

Well we've had another couple of days of lots of rain and kind of generally crappy weather. I actually heard that in the past 2 weeks we've had 20% of our ANNUAL rainfall! As a result it's been pretty slow around the shop - today I was pretty well over it so I decided to close about an hour early. When I went outside there was a rainbow so I decided to drive up to the beach to get a pic or two. As soon as I drove onto the beach a Park Service officer drove right past me with his lights & siren on and I looked up the beach and saw a sailboat on the beach! I have no idea what happened but the boat was beached and getting beat up in the shorebreak with a guy standing on deck at the stern. I drove up to it and there were a bunch of people, some Park Service, Police, Coast Guard all standing there I guess making a plan to get the guy off the boat. It didn't take too long but it was a little bit of a challenge because of the short period waves and fast moving current. I'm glad that it appears that there were no injuries but I don't know what the fate of the man's boat will be so I hope he doesn't lose it entirely. Enjoy the photos and be careful boating around here - it's not nicknamed The Graveyard of the Atlantic for nothing!

Well George I'm afraid you were right about the 'Skins - it was ugly to watch! Thanks to both of you for the photo cudos! Andy said that an attempt was made to pull the boat off the beach today but it was still sitting there this evening. We'll see what happens!

Hey Anonymous - I have no problem with anonymous comments because I realize that some people aren't bold enough to say what they think to the public but shameless anonymous advertising just won't fly. Hell at least work your plug into a comment on the post somehow!! Anyway your "comment" got deleted for sucking!
